After founding H-Towne & Around Remodelers, Inc., JR Smith decided to redirect his time, money, and energy toward a side project, Guns To Hammers. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization provides wounded veterans with Americans With Disabilities (ADA)-compliant remodeling and renovation services, making their homes easily accessible, helping them live independent and manageable lives.


JR, a former U.S. Marine, left the USMC unhurt and able-bodied, unlike many. Due to this, JR has some guilt and feels he has a huge sense of responsibility to his wounded brothers and sisters now living at home, many of whom need various home improvements. 

With his expertise, resources, and contacts, JR is committed to giving back to these veterans who gave so much for our freedoms. Donations help open doors and possibilities for our veterans. As many of our veterans have made huge sacrifices to protect our freedoms, it is our responsibility to ensure they are never left behind.

OUR VETERAN REMODELING SERVICES INCLUDE:

  • Building handicap-accessible bathrooms and kitchens
  • Enlarging door openings to accommodate wheelchairs
  • Building wheelchair ramps
  • Building residential-style elevators and/or lifts
  • Building “quiet rooms” in homes
  • Building additions to homes, including front and back porches designed to create a peaceful resting spot

At Guns To Hammers, we understand returning from active duty to civilian life is never easy. It’s our mission to help make the homes of veterans returning from duty compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act, and more easily accessible for them in general. We can create ramps, lifts, and anything else your home needs to make this happen.
